Hello world!

Welcome to my first post on my personal/professional website.

I will use this post to briefly introduce myself, focusing mainly on my professional background through informal writing.

About Me

My name is Dor, and since 2018, I have been living in the vibrant city of Barcelona, Spain. I am a marketing professional with a diverse background that spans various digital marketing channels and management roles.

My journey into marketing and where I am today started from an unexpected place, when I was working as a winemaker years ago (but more on that in a bit).

My Digital Marketing Experience

My initial foray into the world of digital marketing began with Google Ads and PPC, when I became a Google Ads consultant and account manager. The training I received from Google opened my eyes to this world, which unexpectedly kept drawing me to more than just Google Ads.

In this role, I worked with marketing agencies and end-clients – from local businesses to large companies and startups – to optimize their Google Ads campaigns, increase their ROI, and achieve their goals. This position gave me the opportunity to work with a significant number of accounts, business interactions, resources from Google, and to dive deep into the world of PPC.

My goal here was to interact with as many people as possible, to learn and read as much as I could, and to be as hands-on as possible.

Not long after starting with Google Ads, I had the opportunity to become the team leader of the same team I was part of before – a new challenge. In this role, I managed the team’s expansion (by more than 100%), ultimately leading about 16 people. I was in charge of recruiting, in-team training, and ensuring my team not only met but exceeded its quarterly targets. Along with this came the cultural aspects, the team’s cohesion, and structure – at a time when we were all just transitioning out of COVID-19 and moving to a “work from home” life.

My goal here was to build a strong and independent team and to further deepen my expertise in Google Ads and PPC.

While doing it, I started expanding the scope of what I was working on in the world of online marketing, moving also to SEO, using WordPress, understanding and working with other channels such as LinkedIn, and more.

Today, I combine my expertise to help other businesses, actively learning more every day!

My Wine Experience

As I mentioned earlier, I entered the marketing field after being a winemaker – a result of a two-year MSc in Viticulture and Enology in France and Portugal (with the Vinifera EuroMaster program).

Though my passion for wine is only growing, it’s fair to ask how I transitioned from working as a winemaker to marketing?

Looking back at the process I went through, I usually think of two events that possibly pushed me in this direction, without me knowing it at the time:

  1. In my studies in France, during a “Wine Economy” class, I still remember how the professor said something along the lines of: “In the wine industry, you will learn how to make good wine. We have the tools, the expertise, and the knowledge to do so. What you will not learn easily is how to market and sell your wine.” At the time, I didn’t think much of it, but for some reason, it stuck with me.
  2. The second event was when I was already a winemaker, after my studies. Sitting in a winery management meeting, as the product expert, I was asked to make decisions that were all about marketing or sales, with a direct impact on my wines – my product. This is no different than any other product-marketing relationship in many businesses, but as I had to make more and more decisions, I realized there were many blind spots because the wine industry (like many wineries) didn’t think much about marketing, and there was a lack of benchmarks and data to help in decision-making (i.e., my professor was not wrong).

This is when I also started taking more online classes about sales and marketing. One piece of advice from these classes was – go and do! Don’t just read and learn.

So I did – I went to Google. And now, here I am 🙂

For the finish words

Looking ahead, I am always searching for a new challenge. In a world that changes so fast, I am proud to say that my journey has taught me how to adapt, learn quickly, and achieve results.

And if you managed to read all this—thank you! Let’s talk about digital marketing, Google Ads, PPC, SEO, WordPress, or wine, and share opportunities!
